Car Camping

The adventure of camping is at its peak when it is done up in the mountains or out in the wilderness. However, there are those who might not have enough time and resources to prepare their equipment and to practise their skills. Some desire to enjoy the outdoors but cannot go without modern equipment and facilities. Others might also want to bring their whole family along, including their youngest toddlers. For such campers, they are still able to enjoy the outdoors by going on car camping trips.

There are many ways in which people enjoy car camping. They may use their own cars and bring along tents. They can also use pick-up trucks that have truck tops, which make it more comfortable and safe for them to sleep in the vehicle. Many also make use of converted vans, recreational vehicles (RV) and camping trailers.

There are many types and classes of RVs, ranging from the most simple, spare types to those that can rival the amenities of a house. A typical RV will have rooms for sleeping, food preparation and storage. It will also have electricity and water connections. In addition to these amenities, a more modern and expensive RV can have a dining area, living area, kitchen, bathroom and master bedroom. It can even be enabled with Internet connectivity and satellite television. In Europe, Australia, New Zealand and North America, the most widely used RV is the caravan. Their sizes and facilities can vary, with some even having slide-out rooms and screen porches. The increasing comfort and flexibility in caravans has made caravan camping very famous in the UK and in other places. There are many areas that are designated for RVs. Some of these are actually bare sites that offer only a pit for making a bonfire. This is the most basic type and offers a more rugged experience that can feel almost like backpacking. Conversely, there are parks that offer plenty of facilities like those found in resorts. They have pools, trails, saunas and sports. They have bathrooms and cooking grills. Some sites offer connections for electricity, water and the Internet. Many of these also have standby caravans that are ready to be hired. All these places offer a range of experiences for those who would like to enjoy the outdoors while retaining a semblance of urban life. They can also be practise grounds for wild camping.
