How purchasing a laptop can help to fine tune your skills
Competition in your personal life and professional life can be tough at times and no one is going to say no to a helping hand once in a while! This helping hand can of course take many forms but two stand out from the rest, arming yourself with a decent home laptop and honing your interpersonal skills. In an age where we’ve become relatively soft compared to our ancestors, booking yourself and colleagues onto a team building survival course is a great idea and the results can be staggering. Expressing oneself has been a perennial problem which businesses have long had to deal with. Thankfully computers don’t suffer from such ailments and the modern laptop, when asked, can perform nearly every conceivable task admirably. The beauty of these compact, yet powerful notebooks is that they are equally at home performing regular multimedia tasks or creating spreadsheets and presentations in a work-related environment. Once you’ve chosen your desired computer, it is perhaps time to work on the team building skills of yourself and other staff members. Maybe a half-day course will suffice, but if you’re intent on making your team lean and ready to take on the corporate world, then an intensive weekend course could be right up your street. It will no doubt be difficult to drag team members away from their shiny new netbook, with its crystal clear screen and powerful processor, but two days spent out in the field will do them the world of good.

You’re never alone out in the field
Regardless of whether you’re preparing a presentation on your laptop or undergoing survival skills training out in the field, the one thing you can guarantee is that you’re never going to be alone. On half-day or weekend survival events, you’re always under the watchful eye of skilled, ex-military professionals who keep an attentive, yet discreet eye on proceedings as you face character building challenges. And where your notebook is concerned, should you, for whatever reason, encounter difficulties, be it with downloads, wireless networking, Bluetooth capabilities or any form of troubleshooting, there is always adequate laptop support on hand to assist you with your problems and dilemmas. Mobile computers have certainly changed the dynamics of the modern executive and whilst we are reliant on them in so many ways we still need to develop personal skills, ranging from teamwork awareness to positive thinking and survival. Of course we can’t hope to emulate the laptop where efficiency is concerned, but survival team building events can successfully help with staff cohesion and intuition development programmes. The latest range of mobile computers for the corporate user have some truly stunning features and when you consider that they are relatively cheap, in comparison to computers of old, the modern business laptop is as good as it gets. Choose one with a large non-reflective screen and you could even use a picture of yourself taking part in a survival event as your screen saver just to prove that you’re the genuine article!

Giving yourself the edge
It might sound strange initially but getting back to basics will help you to survive in a tough corporate world. Learning how to make fire, basic shelter building, sourcing your own food and finding water might not seem to have any correlation to the corporate world but it’s all down to developing basic skills which will sharpen your perception when you’re sitting behind your laptop back in the office. You’ll learn how important teamwork is and how, without it, corporate ventures often flounder. And, any office or individual worth their salt should never go far without the satellite laptop, coming with a list of features many high-end computers would be proud of, the question you will undoubtedly ask yourself is, “How can it be made for the money?” It does seem to have everything including integrated Wi-Fi, webcam, DVD RW and, unusually for a mid-ranged mobile computer, an enhanced sound system. Connectivity is often an issue and in instances where you can’t rely on Wi-Fi technology you can always fall back on the integral modem port should problems arise. Plus, if you’re keen to attach gadgets to your laptop there are plenty of USB ports for you to use. It’s surprising how a few hours at a survival event can develop your skills and when you match these with the latest gaming laptop you’re sure to give yourself the edge. Let’s face it, who wants a survival expert armed with a gaming machine as a game playing adversary?

Capture the main event on film
There will be many lasting memories of your team building event and whilst memories are great, along with the skills you required, they will not be forgotten. However, it’s always nice to have pictorial evidence of such a monumentous occasion. It’s easy enough to connect your camera to your laptop so that everyone can get a taste of what you and your colleagues went through in the great outdoors. And with the current crop of computers having crystal clear large screens, the images you see will be absolutely fantastic. The quality of the images is of course not down to the screen alone but is in a large part down to the digital camcorder used to take the shots in the first place. The latest generation of SD based cameras are perfect for taking stills or video footage and with large optical zoom lenses available, even the most distant of shots can be brought into view. You may not look your best when the shots are taken but at least the cameras have red eye reduction facilities which should improve your outward appearance somewhat! Your photographic skills will also be improved by having such advanced technologies at hand, making your laptop an absolutely indispensable item. But there again, with your new found perception skills you knew that already, didn’t you? If you are neither in possession of a decent notebook or have never been on a survival event, then I suggest you rectify the situation with all haste.
