They can help you whenever you need to find something to eat or when you encounter an emergency and need to call for help. They can also help you find your way during the day and at night, unless getting lost is your idea of real fun.
When looking for gadgets that you need to bring along on your camping trip or team building activity, note that you will get a lot of extra space in your backpack if you opt for one tool that is actually a combination of two, three or more gadgets. For example, you will usually find different kinds of knives in one tool. There are also gadgets that combine a knife, a fire starter and a flash light. This will be very useful when you need to cut twigs in order to construct a shelter, build a fire or prepare food. It will also help you slash at thorns and stems that are blocking your path. A fire-starter and match will obviously be much needed fro cooking. You and your group might also want to build a bonfire, around which you can gather to warm yourselves at night and share stories. A flash light is very useful for your finding your way around your camp site and in your tent at night. However, a headlamp or head torch would be more convenient than a hand-held light. A headlamp will free up both of your hands so that you can easily do tasks in the dark. You will also need a device for cooking. Most small cooking devices for camping are stoves that are connected to a gas source. They are usually designed to work quickly. For example, some can boil water in as quick as two minutes.
There are also gadgets that can help you stay on track. A compass is the most common of these. Modern gadgets come with GPS systems that guide them through the path toward their location. A satellite radio will also help you establish connection with others in case you need help.
